Amos Hartston is a Deputy Attorney General in the Public Rights Division, Consumer Law Section of the California Attorney General’s Office.  The Consumer Law Section enforces consumer protection laws through law enforcement investigations and actions, and coordination of consumer protection and education initiatives.

Prior to joining the California Department of Justice, Mr. Hartston served as Chief Counsel and Director of Legal Services at Inner City Law Center, a nonprofit law firm in Los Angeles focused on housing and homelessness issues.

Before that, Mr. Hartston was Litigation Counsel and Pro Bono Counsel at Latham & Watkins LLP, representing large and mid-sized companies in a wide range of matters involving trademarks, copyrights, patents, trade secrets, unfair competition, advertising, contracts, and insurance disputes, as well as other complex business litigation.  As firm-wide Pro Bono Counsel, he led and managed one of the largest law firm pro bono programs, overseeing more than 1.3 million hours of free legal services valued in excess of $500 million.

Mr. Hartston graduated magna cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center and received a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
