Judge Mark A. Juhas, the Immediate Past Chair of our Commission, is a judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court with a general family law assignment in which capacity he has served since November 2002. He is a member of several Los Angeles Superior Court committees and has chaired the Court’s Access and Fairness Committee.
He is currently on the Governing Committee of the Judicial Council’s Center for Judicial Education and Research and is Co-chair of the Judicial Council’s Family and Juvenile Advisory Committee. In the past, he has also served on the Judicial Council’s Elkins Family Law Implementation Task Force, the Elkins Family Law Task Force, and its Self-Represented Litigant Task Force.
Judge Juhas is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Southwestern Law School and also regularly teaches for, among others, The Los Angeles Superior Court’s education program, the Center for Judicial Education and Research, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
He graduated from the University of Puget Sound School of Law, now Seattle University’s School of Law and received a Bachelor’s degree from Colorado College.
