Judge Andi Mudryk
Sacramento, CA
Appointed by the Judicial Council of California
Current Term Extends through June 30, 2030
Governor Gavin Newsom appointed Andi Mudryk as a judge on the Sacramento County Superior Court on March 25, 2022. Judge Mudryk graduated with honors in 1989 from the George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. and has extensive experience serving in leadership roles in non-profit organizations advocating for people with disabilities and in litigating a variety of discrimination and disability-related claims. She has been admitted to practice law in California, Arizona, and Michigan.
On a personal note, Judge Mudryk is a proud Jewish transgender woman with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as Brittle Bone Disorder. Judge Mudryk is the first openly transgender judge appointed by a governor in the country. Judge Mudryk’s father, who was born in Ukraine, survived the Holocaust.
Judge Mudryk is Chair of the Sacramento County Superior Court’s Mentorship Committee, part of a statewide effort to increase the number of diverse judicial candidates. She is also a past Co-Chair and current Judicial Advisor of SacLegal (Sacramento’s LGBTQ+ Bar Association) and the President of the California Judges Association’s (CJA) LGBTQ+ Judicial Officers of Court. She is on the Board of Directors of CJA’S California Women Judges (CWJ), sits on CJA’s California Affinity Judges Association Coalition (CAJAC), and CJA’s Elimination of Bias and Inequality and Diversity and Inclusivity Committees.
Finally, having felt that people with disabilities were not fully included in the legal community, Judge Mudryk led a team in 2023 to form DIBAS (the Disability Inclusivity Bar Association of Sacramento), the first disability bar association in the state. Judge Mudryk sits as a Judicial Advisor to DIBAS.
