The California Access to Justice Commission provides grants to stakeholders and partnerships that advance the Commission’s mission and objectives.

Legal Aid Infrastructure & Innovation Grants

In order to improve equal access and the fair administration of justice, the State has appropriated $5,000,000 through the Judicial Council for the California Access to Justice Commission to provide grants to nonprofit organizations that provide civil legal services to indigent persons to be used to support the infrastructure and innovation needs of legal services in civil matters for indigent persons. Eviction Tsunami Grants

In 2021, the California Endowment provided the California Access to Justice Commission with funding to strengthen the legal aid community’s capacity to represent and assist low-income BIPOC families and individuals in jeopardy of losing their housing because of back-rent due to COVID-19. $637,500 was awarded to seven organizations. Planning Committee 

The Planning Committee served in an advisory capacity to the Executive Committee, and included both California Access to Justice Commission members and non-Commission members. Learn more about the Planning Committee members.
