Eviction Tsunami Grants

BACKGROUND

In 2021, the California Endowment provided the California Access to Justice Commission with funding to strengthen the legal aid community’s capacity to represent and assist low-income BIPOC families and individuals in jeopardy of losing their housing because of back-rent due to COVID-19. GRANT AWARDS

The California Endowment and the California Access to Justice Commission would like to thank all applicant organizations for the work they are doing to address the eviction tsunami. $637,500 was awarded to seven organizations: Centro Legal de la Raza, Community Legal Services in East Palo Alto, Legal Services of Northern California, Open Door Legal, Partnership for the Advancement of New America, Public Law Center, and Thai Community Development Center.

SELECTION COMMITTEE

The Eviction Tsunami Grants Selection Committee was comprised of members with diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise. The Selection Committee met over the course of three months to carefully review and select recommended grant recipients for Executive Committee approval. Selection Committee Members included:
