This report to the Judicial Council covers the first six months of the Infrastructure & Innovation Grants program, April 1 to September 30, 2022. The State set aside $5 million in Equal Access Funds for the Commission to award to legal services organizations serving people at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, with priority for rural and immigrant communities.
It highlights long-overdue upgrades to grantees' case management, accounting, and other systems, new ways of delivering legal help, and the hiring challenges legal aid organizations faced.
